ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Ostrava, the largest tube producer in the Czech Republic, supplied five kilometers of spirally welded tubes for the construction of Polish pipeline. This order is part of the large grid construction in Poland.
The goal of this project is to complete Polish gas infrastructure and to connect the existing LNG terminal with the rest of Europe.
The largest European project
“The construction of the gas line corridor in Poland is currently the largest project of this kind in Europe. The participation in this project together with other suppliers is a huge opportunity for us considering the size and the expected length of the project and the possibility for a long term cooperation,” said Libor Černý, the CEO of ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Ostrava.
In the past the company supplied the same products for the construction of an LNG terminal that will be connected to the new pipeline. The first deliveries of tubes were shipped to Poland in March, another 5 kilometers will be supplied by the tube plant in April.
2000 km pipeline
In the next 10 years, GAZ-SYSTEM, the largest Polish operator of the gas line network, will build more than 2 000 kilometers of new gas lines in the area of western, southern, and eastern Poland. The new pipeline will create a South-North corridor that will connect the Polish grid with other countries across Europe. This will create a duplex corridor connecting the LNG terminal in Swinoujscie and other existing infrastructures in the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Croatia, and Slovakia.
